Established in Durban, South Africa, the journey began with a simple yet profound vision; to create a business model within the food industry which will assist in the establishment of sustainable businesses which will ensure sustained livelihoods.

The Spudz Foodpreneurship Program is pioneering initiative aimed at nurturing entrepreneurship within the food industry in South Africa. Our program provides aspiring foodpreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to transform their food into viable businesses. Through a combination of training, mentorship, access to funding, and market opportunities, we aim to catalyze innovation, create jobs and promote economic development within the food sector.
Our agro-processing plant in Waterfall, Durban is fully fledged with equipment & machinery for the manufacturing of products such as potato chips, russian sausages, braai wors, precooked chicken and patties. These products are then made available to the markets by our foodpreneurs at reasonable prices. Additionally, Spudz has strategically-placed outlets in the Durban metro & surrounding areas that function as distribution centres & youth opportunity centres.

Sibusiso Mathe
CEO
Born into a family deeply rooted in education and entrepreneurship, Mr. Sibusiso Mathe, a teacher by profession, draws from a rich tapestry of experiences that have shaped his career trajectory. Both parents, former school principals, instilled a profound respect for learning and community service from an early age. This upbringing laid the foundation for Mr. Mathe’s lifelong commitment to education and skills development.
Simultaneously, Mr. Mathe’s entrepreneurial spirit was fostered by his parents who owned a butchery and bakery. Growing up in this environment sparked a curiosity about business and entrepreneurship. The desire to integrate these diverse influences—education and entrepreneurship—became a driving force in Mr. Mathe’s professional journey.
Hailing from a religious and community-oriented background, Mr. Mathe was taught the value of giving back from his formative years. His parents played pivotal roles in community development, notably contributing to the establishment of a church in the KwaNdengezi township, west of Durban. This upbringing instilled in Mr. Mathe’s a deep-seated commitment to community welfare and social responsibility.
From a young age, Mr. Mathe actively participated in initiatives promoting youth development and skills training. Their early exposure to youth development programs fueled a passion for empowering young people through education and practical skills acquisition. This early engagement set the stage for Mr. Mathe’s future endeavors in bridging the gap between education and entrepreneurship.
As CEO, Mr. Mathe has championed initiatives that not only foster economic empowerment through skills development but also promote community resilience and sustainability. His vision reflects a holistic approach to education and entrepreneurship, aiming to create opportunities that uplift communities and pave the way for a brighter future.
